LEWISTOWN - A Port Royal man could be charged with DUI after stiking a vehicle nearly head-on early Saturday morning in Juniata County, Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown report.
Police responded to a two vehicle accident at 3:07 a.m., Sept. 7, on U.S. 22 West, approximately 98 feet south of Henry Crossroad Road. Police said the crash was DUI related.
Police said that Jedidiah D. Kepner, 23, Port Royal, was driving a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix, east in the westbound lanes, when he nearly struck Robert J. Gonzales, 43, of Lewistown, as he was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Impala.
According to the report, the front driver's side of Kepner's vehicle struck the front of Gonzales's vehicle causing both vehicles to sideswipe. After this initial impact, Kepner traveled a short distance before finally stopping in the left lane facing east, police said. Gonzales continued west approximately 400 feet before stopping in the center median facing west.
Police said that Kepner was transported to the Lewistown Hospital where a blood alcohol test was conducted. Charges of DUI and traffic related offenses will depend on the results of the blood work, according to the report.
