LEWISTOWN - James E. Settle, 68, of Lewistown, died at 8:45 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at his home.
Born April 23, 1945, he was the son of the late George I. and Mary M. (Adams) Settle.
He is survived by: his wife, Debra (Eagler) Settle, whom he married on Sept. 2, 1967; his daughters, Nancy Settle and fiance, James Hess, of Lewistown, and Carol Gill and husband, Joseph, of Milroy; grandchildren, Antonio Knepp, Samantha Ritter, Sierra Blair and husband, Lawrence, Brian Settle and wife, Mallory, and Lylia Dennison; five stepgrand- children; two great-grandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren and one on the way.
He is also survived by his siblings, Anna Margaret Silks, of Burnham, William E. Settle and wife, Connie, of Granville, and Delores I. Baxter, of Lewistown.
He was preceded in death by: his brothers, Merrill Settle and Fred Settle; his sisters, Sara Zimmerman and Sandy Settle; a nephew, John Silks; a great-nephew, Bill Silks; and a grandchild, Alexis Hess.
James was a member of the Brooklyn Hose Company. He enjoyed watching football and was a Steelers, Eagles and Dolphins fan. He enjoyed fishing and being around his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Bernard Carpenter officiating. Interment will be in Ryde Cemetery.
