RICHFIELD - Irene Ellen Sheaffer, 81, of Richfield, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013, at Brookline Manor, Mifflintown.
She was married on Jan. 26, 1952, to Bobbie E. Sheaffer, who preceded her in death on Sept. 14, 2007.
Irene was born on June 28, 1932, in Knousetown, Juniata County, a daughter of the late Henry and Martha (Strawser) Troutman.
She attended Juniata County schools. Mrs. Sheaffer retired from the Richfield Shirt Factory.
Irene was a lifetime member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Richfield, and previously sang with the choir. She enjoyed watching Penn State and the Philadelphia Phillies.
Mrs. Sheaffer is survived by: her two sons and daughters-in-law; Jerry E. and Wanda Sheaffer, of Richfield, and Randy L. and Dawn Sheaffer, of Thompsontown; five granddaughters, Alison Smith and her husband, Jeremy, Jaclyn Sheaffer, and Lindsay, Kylie and Miranda Sheaffer; two great- grandchildren, Amelia and Ryder Smith; two sisters, Grace Smith, of McAlisterville, and Rose "Rosie" Bordner and her husband, Donald, of Mechanicsburg; two brothers, Calvin Troutman and his companion, Jackie Graybill, of Richfield, and Clyde "Sonny" Troutman, of Mifflintown; and many nieces and nephews.
Irene was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Gregory Smith, and two sisters-in-law, Jean Troutman and Eleanor Troutman.
There will be no viewing. A closed-casket visitation will be from 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., all at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Dressler's Ridge Road, Richfield. Officiating will be Pastor Ken Brown. Burial will be made in the adjoining church cemetery.
