McVEYTOWN - Robert "Bob" Theodore Everly, 85, of McVeytown, passed away at 8:08 p.m., Aug. 7, 2013, at Lewistown Hospital.
Bob was born on Sept. 3, 1927, at his parents' home, in Lewistown.
In 1945, Bob graduated from Lewistown Senior High and was drafted into the Army. He was considered an expert marksman and was selected to serve as a distinguished MP trooper in the elite Second Constabulary Brigade. His service in Germany during World War II earned him many honors and medals.
After the army, Bob ran the successful business of Robert T. Everly Plumbing and Heating for 45 years, retiring in 1998.
He thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a coin collector. He was also a member of the American Legion, the VA, the Yellow Breeches Anglers Conservation Association and Wesley Chapel Church.
Bob was predeceased by: his wife, Betty Jane (Davis) Everly; his sister, Donna Mae (Everly) Shimer; his parents, Theodore Everly and Pearl Karee (White) Everly; his paternal grandparents, Henry H. Everly and Emma E. (Decker) Everly; and his maternal grandparents, Andrew L. White and Clara Mae (Spearley) White.
Bob is survived by his three children, Cynthia "Cindy" Kay (Everly) Kunkel and husband, Ronald Ivan, of Mohrsville, Robert Alan "Bobby" Everly, of Herndon, and Barry Lee Everly and wife, Deborah Leona, of Halifax. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Gretchen Kay (Kunkel) Hess and husband, Matthew, of Stevens, Rebecca Kay Kunkel, of Shillington, Christopher Eric Kunkel, of Mohrsville, Daisha Rae Everly, of Lewisburg, Joseph Kovel and wife, Michelle, of Everett, and Lisa (Kovel) Caro, of Pittsburgh, along with two great-grandchildren, Mitchell and Ashley Kovel, both of Everett.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at Heller- Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Pastor Bollinger officiating.
The family will receive relatives and friends during a viewing from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in the Juniata Memorial Park with VFW Post 7011 military honors.
