McALISTERVILLE - A Millerstown man sustained severe injuries Saturday when another vehicle turned into the path of the motorcycle he was riding, according to a report from Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown.
Police said Jason D. High, 23, of Millerstown, was traveling north on Neimond Road in Monroe Township at 8:37 a.m. when a 2005 Jeep Liberty operated by Penny Lee Sheaffer, 65, of Richfield, turned left into the path of High's 2007 Yamaha V-Star.
Police said High saw Sheaffer and tried to stop, causing the motorcycle to overturn and skid along the road. The motorcycle collided with the Jeep in a private driveway.
According to the report, Sheaffer's vehicle received moderate left side damage, no airbag was deployed and the vehicle was towed from the scene. She was wearing a seat belt and no injuries were reported. High suffered severe injury and was not wearing a helmet. A nursing supervisor at Penn State Hershey Medical Center confirmed High was in critical condition as of Sunday evening.
Police said that prior to EMS arrival, several homeowners in the area provided assistance to the operators involved.
Police were assisted at the scene by Troop G Collision Reconstruction and Richfield Fire and EMS.
