LEWISTOWN - Elmer H. Denlinger Jr., 83, of Lewistown, died at 8:17 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2013, at his home.
Born on June 23, 1930, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Elmer H. Sr. and Edna A. (Burlew) Denlinger.
He is survived by: his wife, Lois M. (Appleby) Denlinger, whom he married on May 11, 1957; children, Karen L. Mitchell and husband, Joseph, of Lewistown, and Steven L. Denlinger, of Harrisburg; sister, Elaine D. McCaffery, of Harrisburg; grandson, Robert E. Yohn Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Bradyn R. Yohn and Brenna L. Yohn.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, John R. Denlinger.
Elmer served in the Army from 1948 to 1953 and the National Guard from 1956 to 1971, retiring as a major.
Elmer was a supervisor at Standard Steel, retiring after 35 years. He also worked at Erie Insurance, Rich Coast Coffee, Kish Bank and Elks Lodge.
He was a member of Maitland Church of the Brethren and the Elks Club.
Elmer enjoyed barbershop singing, chorus and quartets.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013, at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Charles Eldridge officiating. Interment with VFW Post 7011 honors will take place in Juniata Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
