STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Sylvia A. Shore, 88, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2013, in Stone Mountain, Ga.
Sylvia was born on April 13, 1925, in Oregon, Ill., to Percy and Anna Heckman.
Survivors include: her husband of 59 years, John "Jack" Shore, of Stone Mountain; sons, Tom Shore and wife, Sharyn, of Portroe, Ireland, and Steve Shore and wife, Peggie, of Lancaster, S.C.; sister, Barbara Wallace, of Toronto, Canada; grandchildren, Katie Williams and husband, Bryan, and Chris Shore and wife, April; and great- grandchildren, Maddy Williams (Thing 1), Amelia Williams (Thing 2) and Thing 3, expected in September.
She is preceded in death by her sisters, Carol McCloskey, Joy Nash and Marjorie Heckman.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was co-chair of the Gwinnett County S.A.L.T. Council at its inception.
Sylvia worked for the U.S. State Department in Europe and retired from the Georgia State Department of Human Resources.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 15, 2013, at Mountain Park United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, in Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Ga.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Eternal Hills Funeral Home and from 12 to 1 p.m. on Monday, July 15, 2013, at Mountain Park United Methodist Church.
