Leonard R. Peachey

BELLEVILLE - Leonard R. Peachey, 75, of 355 Walnut St., Belleville, died at 7:37 a.m. Sunday, July 7, at his home.

He was born on Nov. 15, 1937, in Belleville, a son of the late Ray S. Peachey, who died on June 25, 1980, and Eldora (Hertzler) Peachey, who died on Oct. 19, 2002.

His wife, Esther I. (Graybill) Peachey, whom he married on May 30, 1959, survives.

He is also survived by: siblings, Zelda R. Zook and husband, Byron, of Allensville, and Eleanor Stoltzfus and husband, Dave, of Lancaster; children, Nathan Ray Peachey and wife, Tami, of Belleville, Beverly Ann Peachey and husband, Glen R., of Mifflintown, and Loretta Kay Peachey, of Harrisburg; brother-in-law, Eugene Stucky, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; grandchildren, Jeremy, Kelsey, Justin and wife, Kaylin, Karisa and Sarah Peachey, Heidi Carvalho and husband, Cory, and Tiffany Brown; and great-granddaughter, Kalia Joy Carvalho.

He was preceded in death by sisters and brother-in-law, Ruth E. Yoder and husband, Sonny Yoder, as well as Pauline Stucky.

Leonard was a dairy farmer for 17 years, prior to working for Union Township for 25 years. Also during the 25 years with the township, he was employed on Irvin Fleming's farm and served as a janitor at Belleville Mennonite School for 14 years.

Most recently, he worked at Ag Star and for Zook's Masonry.

He sang with the Big Valley Men's Chorus for 30 years, was a Big Valley Ambulance Club driver for 25 years and he served on the Central PA World Hunger Board for 10 years.

He and his wife enjoyed traveling and attending gospel singing groups.

He was a member of Locust Grove Mennonite Church and a member of the Lighthouse Sunday school class.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at Locust Grove Mennonite Church with Pastors Max Zook and Gerald Peachey officiating.

Burial will take place at Locust Grove Cemetery, Belleville.

His viewing will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 12, at the church. This will be the only opportunity for a public viewing.
