BELLEVILLE - Julia A. Kurtz, 88, of 254 Rockville Road, Belleville, died at 5:16 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2013, at her home.
Born April 21, 1925, in Brady Township, Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late John B. and Annie B. (Yoder) Byler. Her husband, Joseph E. Kurtz, whom she married on Nov. 12, 1953, survives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by: children, Julia A. Hostetler and husband, David, of Belleville, Tura M. Hostetler and husband, Raymond, of Belleville, Enos J. Kurtz and wife, Lucy, of Adams, N.Y., Joseph E. Kurtz and wife, Sylvia, of Mannsville, N.Y., and Rachel L. Peachey and husband, David G., of Belleville; brother, Samuel K. Byler and wife, Elsie, of Mill Creek; 39 grandchildren; and 16 great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: an infant son, Samuel Kurtz; a daughter, Dorothy J. Kurtz; a stillborn granddaughter, Sara Hostetler; and two sisters, Rachel Kanagy and Sadie M. Byler.
Julia was primarily a homemaker. She was a member of Pleasant View Amish Mennonite Church. She enjoyed putting puzzles together, quilting, crocheting and she loved flowers.
A funeral service will be held in her memory at 10 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2013, at Pleasant View Amish Mennonite Church, with Bishop David Peachey and Ministers Arthur Gerber and David Byler officiating. Burial will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, Belleville.
Her family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, at the church.
