Harvey L. Peachey

STATE COLLEGE - Harvey L. Peachey, 81, of 39 Cayuga Road, Belleville, died at 11:12 a.m. Sunday, June 2, 2013, at Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

Born on July, 27, 1931, in Belleville, he was a son of the late Harvey L. Peachey Sr. and Anna (Hartzler) Peachey. He was married on June 18, 1953, to M. Deloras (Wilson) Peachey, who survives.

Along with his wife, he is survived by: sons, Barry L. Peachey and his wife, Kathy, of Carlisle, Randal L. Peachey, and his wife, Lori, of Belleville, and Gregg A. Peachey, of State College; siblings, Lois Yoder, of Harrisonburg, Va., James L. Peachey, of Spring Mills, Patricia Zook and her husband, Chet, of Allensville, Loren Peachey and his wife, Janice, of Burnham, Jane Diffenderfer and husband, Jim, of Reedsville, Joanne Kauffman, and her husband, Leroy, of Reedsville, and Helen Yoder and her husband, Floyd, of Belleville; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, H. Willis Peachey, on April 19, 2000, and a brother, Solomon D. Peachey.

Harvey graduated from Eastern Mennonite School in Harrisonburg, Va., in 1949. From the late 1950s to 1990, he was the third- generation owner of H. L. Peachey Meats in Belleville, which later became the Belleville Locker Plant and now operates under the name Peachey Foods.

He was a member of Maple Grove Mennonite Church and a former member of Big Valley Ambulance Club. He enjoyed playing baseball, bowling, golfing, boating at Raystown and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He also participated in a number of bowling leagues in the area.

A funeral service will be held in his memory at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Maple Grove Mennonite Church, with Pastors Herb Zook and Doug Pierce officiating. Burial will take place in St. Stephen's Lutheran Cemetery, in McAlevy's Fort. His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, at Henderson Funeral Home, Belleville.
