AUDUBON - Janet L. McNitt, 72, of Audubon, died at Jefferson University Hospital, in Philadelphia, from complications of a sudden onset of acute pancreatitis.
Born in 1940, she was the daughter of Roland and Genevieve Crookston.
She is survived by: her husband of nearly 44 years, Charles; brother, Thomas and wife, Judy, of Monroeville; and brothers-in-law, Richard McNitt and wife, Roslyn, of State College, and David McNitt and wife, Sandra, of Reedsville.
She was a graduate of Pitcairn High School, near Pittsburgh. She worked as a Flexowriter operator at Westinghouse Air Brake Company, in Wilmerding, from 1960 to 1969, where she met her future husband.
She was a loving wife and devoted homemaker who enjoyed rising early, reading, spending time with family and friends, traveling, walking on the beach, bargain shopping and bluegrass music. She was well-known by all her family and friends to always give the most thoughtful and appropriate gifts for every occasion.
She also collected advertising thimbles and square yardsticks.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at a future time.
