BURNHAM - Joyce A. (Hawk) King, 82, of Fourth Avenue, Burnham, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 16, 1931, in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of the late Clifford and Blanche (Sleppy) Smathers.
She was preceded by her first husband, Clarence S. Hawk, on Jan. 20, 2010. She is survived by her second husband, Theodore King, whom she married Nov. 26, 2011.
Also surviving are: children, Clarence E. Hawk and wife, Esther, of Delaware, Beth Brosius and husband, Dan, of Ottsville, Amy Mueller and husband, Ron, of Exton, Carol Stoner and husband, Barry, of McClure, and Brian Hawk and wife, Julie, of South Carolina; siblings, Leah Silvis, of West Pennsylvania, James Smathers, of California, Marilyn Jennings, of Florida, Clifford Smathers Jr., of Utah, and Scott Smathers, of Georgia; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great- grandchildren.
She was preceded by a sister, Lorraine.
Joyce retired from Midd-West School District as the cafeteria manager. She was a member of the Pleasant Acres Assembly of God Church and was a graduate of Transylvania Bible School.
She taught Sunday school at Bannerville CMA Church and was a member of Beaver Springs Senior Center.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Lewistown Assembly of God, 160 Summit Drive, Lewistown, with the Rev. Dennis Sproull officiating. Interment will be private.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 24, at the church.
