LEWISTOWN - Lewistown became the first team in the Mifflin County Babe Ruth League to reach double digits in the win column with a 20-3 win over Burnham on Tuesday night.
The West now has a 10-0 record and still maintains a three and half game lead over Yeagertown, which beat Belltown, 6-3.
Yeagertown 6, Belltown 3
YEAGERTOWN - Yeagertown's Ty Bodtorf was in mid-season form Tuesday night as he controlled the Belltown bats in a 6-3 triumph.
Bodtorf worked six innings and gave up no hits, one run and six walks. The 14-year-old struck out six.
Bodtorf had a no-hitter through four innings before he was lifted for Ty Hunter.
Belltown, however, greeted Hunter with three straight hits and after a walk, Bodtorf was sent back in to settle things down. He worked out of the jam and gave up a run on four walks and an error in the sixth. Nate Earnest closed out the seventh in 1-2-3 fashion.
Belltown's Keith Corson opened the fifth with a double and Gavin Erb and Austin Erb followed with singles. Nick Hostetler had a bases loaded walk forcing in a run. Tre Fleck knocked in the other run with a sacrifice fly.
Yeagertown led 2-0 going into the fourth and broke the game wide open with three runs on five hits. Bodtorf led off the inning with a double and Devon Ammerman knocked him home with a single. Nelson Cook followed with an RBI double and Kaegan Matthews knocked Cook home with a single.
Cook, Matthews and Tate Harpster each had two hits for Yeagertown.
Strodes Mills 15,
MCVEYTOWN - Strodes Mills might have gotten off to a slow start, losing four of its first five games, but now it is rolling as it won for fourth time in its last five games on Tuesday.
Strodes Mills won going away, 15-2, over McVeytown as it evened its record at 5-5 and moved into the a tie for fifth place. The game was stopped after five innings due to the 10-run rule.
Nick Smith went the distance for Strodes Mills as he struck out five, walked no one, hit a batter and gave up eight hits.
Andrew Bernstein led the Strodes Mills offense with a 4-for-4 effort including a double.
Andrew Larson and Tyler Rhoades each had two hits for Strodes Mills.
Drew Harshbarger was the only McVeytown player with multiple hits, two.
Lewistown 20, Burnham 3
LEWISTOWN - Lewistown put together a 12-hit attack around 15 Burnham walks and two hit batters in a 20-3 win that was stopped after five innings due to the 10-run rule on Tuesday.
Peyton Reesman led the West with three hits and drove in three runs. Jonah Schultz and Manny Eby each had two hits and Damon Jasper had Lewistown's only extra-base hit, a double and had three RBIs.
Eby picked up the win with two innings of work and got help from Schultz and Jasper. The trio limited Burnham to four hits.
Tyler Powell had two of the four hits, while Tanner Taylor and Javian Kauffman each had one.
The win for Lewistown marked the 13th straight year that it has gotten into double digits tying it with Yeagertown (1979-1991) for fourth place.
Reedsville 8, Belleville 7
MILROY - Reedsville used a walk to get a walk off win over Belleville on Tuesday night in the bottom of the eighth inning for an 8-7 win.
In the bottom of the eighth, Cade Attick, Jacob Spickler each drew walks and with one out Aaron Wagner picked up an infield single. Then Wagner's twin brother, Davis, picked up a walk with the bases loaded to win the game.
Aaron Kanagy, a rookie, picked up the win in relief of Logan Peachey. Kanagy threw the final four innings giving up only three hits.
Reedsville only had seven hits with Kanagy getting two. Kanagy, Attick and Davis Wagner each had doubles for Reedsville.
Belleville finished with nine hits as Tyler Bedeylon led the way with three hits. Eddie Hamman finished with two and Dylan Billett had Belleville's only extra-base hit, a double.
The game was tied, 6-6, going into the seventh. Each team scored once. Belleville's Trent Yoder scored on a Joe Taptich ground out and Reedsville tied it as Carson King walked, went to second on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a wild pitch. Belleville committed an error that kept the inning alive.
Notes: In the first inning of the Yeagertown-Belltown game, each team had a runner picked off. Then in the bottom of the third inning, Belltown turned a 6-3 double play and in the top of the fourth, Yeagertown came right back with a 6-3 double play...In the Lewistown win on Sunday, it only used two pitchers to gain the win, Damon Jasper and Marcus Donahey...Reedsville holds the Mifflin County record for most consecutive double digit win seasons in a row, 36 (1977-2012)...The Reedsville-Belleville game was the seventh that went to extra-innings this season out of 41.
