LEWISTOWN - Dr. Christie Gisewhite has reopened Gisewhite Chiropractic Center as 505 Chiropractic, along Electric Avenue, welcoming Dr. Heather Morgan as a new partner in the business.
"I took the last year off to rest and recharge," Gisewhite said. "I decided to partner up because, while I want to continue the practice, I'm looking to go part-time. Heather brings a lot of new skills and ideas to the table."
A graduate of Northwestern Health Sciences University, Morgan is certified by both the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners and the Pennsylvania State Board of Chiropractic. She also brings a background in nutrition to the practice, which, she said, relates to the body's balance and strength.

Drs. Heather Morgan, left, and Christie Gisewhite, have joined together to serve the community’s chiropractic needs at 505 Chiropractic in Derry Township.
"Everything in the body is related so it's important to take a well-rounded view," Morgan said. "While I provide adjustments and regular chiropractic services, I'm available for nutritional counseling and diet support."
It's also helpful to have a second person in the office when determining treatments for difficult diagnoses, Gisewhite said. Another set of eyes or perspective can really energize a treatment plan, she said.
"Sometimes, when things aren't straightforward, it helps to have someone you can work with," Gisewhite said. "We often confer on patients and develop treatment plans together."
505 Chiropractic also offers muscle therapy services with Laura Housel, certified massage therapist. Generally, a patient receives a 15 to 20 minutes corrective massage before being adjusted by the chiropractors, she said.
"Muscle therapy goes hand-in-hand with chiropractic," Housel said. "I can do all the correcting I want, but it won't hold without the needed chiropractic adjustments."
It's also very difficult to make adjustments without the help of muscle therapy, Gisewhite said. The process makes the body more flexible and pliable for adjustments, she said.
Prices range from $30 for a chiropractic adjustment to $50 for a new patient exam and first adjustment. While Gisewhite accepts cash, check or credit card, the practice does not accept any insurance plans other than Medicare.
To make an appointment, contact Gisewhite or Morgan at 242-4476. More information is available online at www.505chiropractic.com or at the 505 Chiropractic Facebook Page. The office is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
