MILROY - It seems as if every time Lewistown wins a game in the Mifflin County Babe Ruth League, it sets another record or reaches another milestone.
That was the case on Tuesday night as the West downed Reedsville, 19-2, in a five-inning game.
It marked Lewistown's 300th win since it joined the league in 1999.
But, even more important than the milestone, it marked Lewistown's fifth straight (5-0) win this year and it now has a game and half lead over Beaver Springs (2-0) and Milroy (3-1).
Each team had nine hits on Tuesday, but the difference was that four Reedsville pitchers gave up 14 walks and hit two batters.
Damon Jasper led the Lewistown offense with three hits inlcuding two doubles. The 14-year-old scored four times and knocked in three runs.
C.J. Reigle had two hits including a double and knocked in five runs. Hunter Amrhein also had two hits for the winners, Isaiah Kearns knocked in the first run of the night with a double and Payton Reesman also had a double.
Reedsville's Jake Spickler had a perfect night at the plate going 3-for-3, while Aaron Kanagy and Logan Peachey each had two hits. Spickler had Reedsville's only extra base hit, a double in the fifth inning.
Manny Eby picked up the win with three innings of work. He gave up one run, six hits, walked two and struck out one. Jonah Schultz finished by giving up a run on three hits and struck out two.
