PHOENIX, Ariz. - Ruth A. Miller, 83, of Phoenix, Ariz. and formerly of McAlisterville, died Monday, April 22, 2013, at the West Valley Hospital, Goodyear, Ariz.
Born April 4, 1930, in McAlisterville, Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Esther (Depew) Smith. On June 4, 1949, she married her husband, George A. Miller, with whom she shared nearly 46 years of marriage until he preceded her in death on May 2, 1995.
Surviving are her sons, Kenneth Miller, of Tucson, Ariz., Frederick Miller, of Avondale, Ariz; one brother, Earl Smith and his wife Beryl, of McAlisterville; three grandchildren, Andrew Miller, Nathaniel Miller, Rebecca Miller; and she leaves behind, two great-grandchildren, Rachel Miller and Dustin Miller.
Two brothers, Lester Smith and Clarence Smith, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Miller was a 1947 graduate of Fayette Township High School and was attending Thomas Road Baptist Church in Phoenix.
Ruth was a homemaker most of her life; however, while living in Juniata County she was a self-employed beautician and later worked as a beautician in the Phoenix area.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2013, from the Bunkertown Church of the Brethren, Bunkertown, with Pastor Gregory Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Goodwill Cemetery, Bunkertown.
A viewing will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 111 Westfall St., McAlisterville.
