McVEYTOWN - Russell P. Specht, 87, of 50 Chestnut Ridge Road, McVeytown, died at 8:24 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at his home.
Born Nov. 23, 1925, in Reedsville, he was the son of the late George and Florence (Henry) Specht.
He is survived by: his wife, Ethel (Dickson) Specht, whom he married on March 29, 1947; his daughter, Wanda K. Lamey and husband, John B., of Loganton; grandchildren, Holly Locurto, Juanita Specht, Paula Woodling and husband, Don, Amy Specht, and Shawn Carpenter; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his sister, Evelyn Frutchey, of Strodes Mills.
He was preceded in death by: his son, Russell P. Specht Jr.; and his siblings, Isabel Kearns, Ida Hamilton, Margaret Cavanaugh, John, Edward, Herbert, Berton, David and Lloyd Specht.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was employed at Mauery Sheet Metals for more than 25 years, Marlette Homes and later worked for the Department of Forestry on the Seven Mountains.
Russell loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed listening to country music.
His funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013, at the Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Darvin Donahey officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, where graveside military rites will be conducted by the VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.
His family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thusrday, at the funeral home.
