MADISONBURG - Krislund Camp and Conference Center, where fire demolished one of the original lodges last year, will celebrate the completion of a new lodge on April 14 at the camp, located along Route 445 between Lamar and Madisonburg.
The celebration of Resurrection Lodge coincides with Krislund's 50th Anniversary and will include tours as well as the dedication of several other new facilities completed throughout the last year.
The new 3,000 square foot Resurrection Lodge stands on the site of the lodge that was demolished by fire last year.
Activities begin at 2 p.m. April 14, and dedication is scheduled for 3 p.m. Visitors will have an opportunity to tour all camp facilities.
The new 3,000 square foot Resurrection Lodge sits on the site of the old lodge and includes a large, paneled great room with stone fireplace. The lodge sleeps 30 and has a fully-equipped kitchen.
In addition to the construction of the new lodge, Krislund has also installed 20 new cabins, each with private showers and bathrooms, temperature controls and two double beds. Two of the cabins are handicap accessible. The cabins are adjacent to the Retreat Center where meeting rooms and dining facilities are easily accessed.
"The new facilities will enable Krislund to host groups of all sizes and ages," said Barry Vance, camp manager, in a press release.
He said the rebuilding of Resurrection Lodge was accomplished quickly, in just a little more than one year. It was built by Stolfus Construction, and volunteers helped with finishing touches.
Krislund is a ministry of 145 Presbyterian churches throughout the central Pennsylvania corridor. Their mission includes providing warm hospitality to all guests regardless of religious affiliation. The camp and conference center is located on 850 acres along Route 445 between Lamar and Madisonburg.
