LEWISTOWN - Sylvia E. Harshbarger, 97, formerly of state Route 103 North, Lewistown, died at 7:10 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Golden LivingCenter-William Penn, Lewistown.
Born March 14, 1916, in Bratton Township, she was a daughter of the late Grant and Frances (Renninger) Thompson. Her husband, Guy E. Harshbarger, preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 1989.
Surviving are: a son, Charles E. Harshbarger and wife, Bonnie, of Lewistown; a sister, H. Jean Brown, of Waynesboro; two grandchildren, Melissa Marker and husband, Randy, of Thompsontown, and Ryan Harshbarger and wife, Rachel, of Scranton; a step granddaughter, Beth Simendinger and husband, Allen, of Newport; four great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: an infant son; a daughter-in-law, E. Rosene Harshbarger; a sister, Agnes Partchey; brothers, Styrel Thompson and Cecil Thompson; and an infant brother.
Employed in housekeeping at the former Hotel Lewistown, she retired in 1993.
Sylvia was a member of Pine Glen Church of the Brethren and the Work and Win Sunday school class.
In following Sylvia's wishes, a graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013, in Pleasant View Cemetery, Mattawana, with the Rev. Donald E. Peters Jr. officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pine Glen Church of the Brethren, 67 Pine Glen Road, Lewistown, PA 17044.
