THREE SPRINGS - Derek Keith Whitsel, 19, of 20989 Church St., Three Springs, died at 10:45 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2013, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Shade Gap.
He was born on March 17, 1994, in Lewistown. He was the son of Angel (Diven) and Scott Shehan, of Three Springs, and Mark Whitsel, who preceded him in death. Surviving is his special love, Alyssa Varner, of South Mountain.
He also is survived by: grandparents, Gifford and Dolores Keller, of Lewistown, Kenneth and Judith Diven, of Mill Creek, Margaret Whitsel, of Granville, and Fred and Frances Shehan, of Three Springs; great-grandparents, Charles and Alice Bollinger, of McVeytown; sister, Autumn Whitsel, who resides at their Three Springs home; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Since graduation from the Southern Huntingdon County High School in 2012, he was employed as a construction worker for Coons Construction, in Three Springs.
While in high school, he was a member of both the track and field team and the basketball team, and was a member of chorus.
He attended the Immanuel Bible Church, in Three Springs.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles, and also the family beach vacations. His family will remember him as being a loving person, loved by all and having many friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, 2013, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with Pastor Steve Heaster officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
There will also be visitation from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday.
