MEXICO - Donald R. Foster, 96, of Mexico, died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at the Lewistown Hospital.
Born on Nov. 9, 1916, in Walker Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late John T. and Elsie (Hack) Foster. On May 5, 1942, he married his surviving wife, Charlotte G. (Hostler) Foster, with whom he shared more than 70 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: a son, John D. Foster and his wife, Judith, of Mexico; two grandchildren, Jason Foster and his wife, Debbie, and Susan Ranck and her husband, Brian; one stepgrandson, Steven Ranck and his wife, Melissa; two great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandson.
Donald was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II, in the African Theater. He attended the Mexico United Presbyterian Church, Mexico, and was an avid fisherman.
In earlier life, Mr. Foster started his career with the Pennsylvania Railroad and retired with 42 years of service as a conductor for Conrail, of Enola.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, from the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Crystal Lyde officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
A viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
