PORT ROYAL - John P. Yoder, 66, of Mountain Road, Port Royal, entered into rest at 1:48 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, in Oakland Mills, due to an automobile accident.
Born Sept. 21, 1946, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Raymond and Mary (Moyer) Yoder. He is survived by his wife, Elaine B. (Lilley) Yoder, whom he married on Sept. 21, 1970.
Also surviving are three sons, James L. and Jacob R. Yoder, at home, and Jordan C. Yoder and wife, Karen, of Mifflintown, and one sister, Donna Barton, of Port Royal.
He was preceded in death by a son, John Wesley Yoder, on Feb. 16, 1993.
John was a 1964 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown, and was also a graduate of Williamsport Technical School, Williamsport.
John was a Vietnam Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.
He was an electrician for Norfolk Southern Railroad, Enola, retiring after 40 years, and was formerly a dairy farmer for 30 years.
He was a member of the Matamoras United Methodist Church, where he sang in the church choir.
He enjoyed his retirement in many ways and especially loved being with family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Matamoras United Methodist Church, on the corner of Matamoras and Mountain roads, Port Royal, with the Rev. Kenneth R. Kitzmiller officiating. Interment will be in McCulloch's Mills Cemetery, Tuscarora Township, Juniata County, with military graveside services conducted by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, at Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal.
