Lewistown Sentinel

From staff reports

LEWISTOWN - The Mifflin County boys tennis team started its first season in the Mid-Penn Conference the right way, taking a 3-2 win over Palmyra Tuesday.

The first competition date for tennis precedes other sports by nearly two weeks; the Huskies will compete in several matches before other spring sports are allowed to commence play.

Wins from Mifflin County's Matt DeBenedetto and Clay Morgan in singles and a Cody Donaldson and Nate Koller doubles team propelled the Huskies to the victory.

Morgan dominated in his match over Evan Azzara, going 6-2, 6-0 for the quick victory.

DeBenedetto lost his first set to Griffin, 4-6, but rebounded with two strong sets (7-5, 6-2) to take the win while Donaldson and Koller took two straight sets 7-5 over Tyler Shank and Julien Haghani to seal the doubles match.

Mifflin County (1-0, 1-0) gets back in action Wednesday when it travels to Mechanicsburg.
