MIDDLEBURG - A Sunday morning stabbing left a 71-year-old Middleburg woman dead in her Creek Road home, and the woman's grandson and his wife are currently in custody, Pennsylvania State Police Selinsgrove report.
Police said Bonnie Jean Snook, of 1542 Creek Road, Beaver Township, Snyder County, was found dead at her home after an altercation with her grandson, Joshua Michael Snook.
Dale W. Snook was stabbed in the arm during the altercation and was taken to Geisinger Medical Center Danville for treatment, police report. A nursing supervisor at the hospital said Dale was in fair condition as of Tuesday night. Joshua Snook and his wife, Jennifer Kathleen Snook, were taken into police custody Sunday morning.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by police, Joshua and Jennifer Snook were with a friend at a Northumberland bar when a fight broke out between Joshua and the friend. Police said Joshua and Jennifer Snook drove to the residence of Bonnie and Dale Snook with the intent to get a gun and get back at the friend.
Joshua Snook went into the residence and took a Ruger P85 9mm handgun, police report. According to the report, a struggle ensued between Joshua and his grandparents during which both grandparents were stabbed.
Police said Bonnie Snook died presumably as a result of a stab wound to the neck and Dale Snook was stabbed in the arm.
Jennifer Snook waited in the vehicle in a cemetery adjacent to the victim's home for Joshua Snook to return, according to the affidavit.
Police said once Joshua returned to the vehicle, they were stopped by police approximately one mile from the residence and the Ruger handgun was found in the vehicle.
Jennifer Snook has been charged with possession of a weapon, receiving stolen property, burglary and other related charges. Joshua Snook is still being detained on a state parole violation, police report.
