McCONNELLSBURG - Tambra "Tamie" Raye Rittenhouse passed away on Feb. 12, 2013, after fighting a courageous battle with Huntingdon's chorea. She was a resident of the long-term care facility Overly Meadows, at the Fulton County Medical Center for almost six years.
Tamie was born on Feb. 16, 1961, in Lewistown, and raised in Pine Glen. She was a daughter of the late William E. and Barbara Jean (Morrison) Rittenhouse.
Her twin sister, Tonya (Tawnie) Kaye House, wife of David J., of Fort Littleton, along with her brother, William E. Rittenhouse Jr., husband of Diane L., of Mattawana, survive.
She was a loving aunt and great-aunt to Keith Allen Rittenhouse, Kara Adaline D. (House) Snyder, Tyson Lee Rittenhouse, Jordan David House, Joshua Rittenhouse, Rylie Rittenhouse and twins, Halle and Hanna Rittenhouse.
She is also survived by aunts, Jean Zong, of McVeytown, Dot Huot, of Quebec, Canada, and uncles, Richard (Teed) Rittenhouse, of Pine Glen, and Robert Morrison, of Lewistown.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by: brothers, Randall Lee and twins, Brett Allen and Brian Scott; a great-aunt who helped raise her, Adaline Miller; grandparents, Edward and Mary Rittenhouse and Robert and Mary Morrison; two aunts, Betty Kadabos and Sarah Gibson; and uncle, Robert Rittenhouse.
She was a member of Pine Glen Church of the Brethren.
She attended Rothrock High School until 10th grade, and graduated from Lewistown High School in 1979. She played softball and basketball for the Rothrock Eagles.
After graduation, she stayed active in playing on several women's softball teams.
She was an enthusiastic fan of Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers teams. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with her family and friends, attending football games, vacationing at the beach and long rides through Licking Creek Mountain.
Her employment consisted of Scotty's Fashions, Arrow Shirt Factory and Trinity Packaging.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Pine Glen Church of the Brethren, 61 Pine Glen Road, Lewistown, with Pastor Donald E. Peters Jr. officiating. Interment will be held in Pine Glen Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 S. Market St., McVeytown, and from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday, at the church.
