MIFFLINTOWN - Gerald "Bub" Walton has announced his intention to run for Magisterial District Judge 41-3-01, which includes Mifflintown and Thompsontown boroughs and Delaware, Fayette, Fermanagh, Monroe, Green-
wood and Susquehanna townships in Juniata County.
Walton said he is a registered Republican but cross filed in the primary election.
"My belief as being an elected official is that each official should be available to the public as much as possible, not just when it is suitable for the official," Walton said.
Walton graduated from Juniata High School class of 1991 and entered the U.S. Navy. Walton said during his enlistment, he traveled to many different parts of the world, but no place that compared to "good 'ol Juniata County."
"Upon returning home to Juniata County I started my career as a correctional officer at the county prison. After working there for almost two years, I moved on to Dauphin County Prison where I've been employed since," Walton said.
Walton said during his career as a correctional officer, he has had the opportunity to be around numerous district magistrates that have taught him quite a lot about the daily routine of what a magistrate should be doing.
Walton resides in Greenwood Township with his wife, Billi Hahn Walton and three daughters. He attends the Presbyterian Church of Perry Valley. He is currently the president of the Perry County Girls Fastpitch Softball Association and also belongs to the Seven Mountains Umpire Association.
