Police: Drunk man hits cop at hospital

LEWISTOWN - A McClure man punched a police officer while resisting arrest while he was under the influence of alcohol Monday night in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital, Mifflin County Regional Police Department reports.

Police said at about 10 p.m., they attempted to place Rocky M. Jones under arrest for public drunkenness, he punched an officer and began kicking.

Police said they subdued Jones and placed him under arrest for aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest and public drunkenness.

Police did not state why Jones was at the emergency room.

Jones remains incarcerated at Mifflin County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 bond, according to the MCCF website.
