From staff reports , Lewistown Sentinel

HUNTINGDON - Huntingdon County District Attorney George Zanic announced on Monday the plea and sentencing of Frank J. Shroyer, 57, of Tyrone, in a child sex abuse case.

Shroyer pleaded guilty to rape of a child under the age of 13 and was sentenced by Judge Stewart Kurtz to 10 to 20 years in state prison.

The plea deal avoided

jury selection that was scheduled for Monday morning.

Shroyer's crime took place between August 2006 and March 2007 in Brady Township, Huntingdon County.

His actions were reported to the Pennsylvania State Police by the victim this past July.

"It took a great deal of courage for this young lady to come forward as a teenager." Zanic said, "Because of her courage we were able to put away a pedophile for 20 years."
