LEWISTOWN - The Juniata Valley will likely experience its third measurable snowfall in a week Saturday.
After a formidable snow shower on Monday evening and a four-to-six-inch storm on Wednesday, the National Weather Service in State College is forecasting another three to five inches of snow will fall in the area Saturday.
The weather forecasting service has issued a winter weather advisory for the entire Juniata Valley, which will be in effect from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday. The NWS says an area of low pressure will pass just to the south of Pennsylvania, causing "a widespread three-to-five-inch snowfall over all of central Pennsylvania."
The snow is predicted to begin at around daybreak Saturday and continue for a period of 6 to 8 hours before tapering off.
The snowfall is expected to make roadways hazardous and limit visibility to as little as a quarter of a mile during the heaviest periods of precipitation.
Temperatures are forecasted to be in the mid-20s during the snowfall with winds out of the east at five to 10 mph.
