Elmer J. Yeck

REEDSVILLE - Elmer J. Yeck, 87, of 161 Church Lane, Reedsville, died at 2:44 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at Lewistown Hospital.

Born Oct. 25, 1925, in Olyphant, he was the son of the late Michael and Mae (VanKirk) Yeck. His wife, Sarah Louise (Staub) Yeck, preceded him in dead on April 20, 2005.

He is survived by a son, Kennon L. Yeck and his wife, Kim, of Mount Jackson, Va.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Nell Yeck, in 2001.

Elmer was a teacher, principal and assistant superintendent at Mifflin County School District.

He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps and was a veteran of World War II.

He was a member of Olyphant Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years, Stroup Alexander VFW Post 5935, Retired Teacher's Association and a member of Kish Campers for 36 years.

He received his master's degree in education from Penn State University.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at Juniata Memorial Park, with Rev. Kenneth Longfield officiating. Lewistown VFW will accord military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post 7011, 12 Chestnut St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, is in charge of the arrangements.
