Board to lay off pair

MCRPD passes tentative 2013 budget

December 14, 2012
Lewistown Sentinel

YEAGERTOWN - Mifflin County Regional Police Department Board of Directors approved a motion at its regular monthly meeting on Thursday to lay off the two least senior officers to balance the budget.

This move is necessary because Armagh Township will no longer solicit police service from MCRPD.

The Chairman of the Derry Township Board of Supervisors, John McCullough, said the officers' names will be made public after they are told personally.

In other business, the board tentatively approved a balanced 2013 budget with "no increases."

An exact dollar figure was not immedately made available and MCRPD Chief Scott Mauery told The Sentinel that the figure would be available after the board officially adopts the budget.

The MCRPD Board of Directors meets at 5:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month at MCRPD headquarters in Yeagertown.
