To the editor:
My letter is in response to Mr. Geedey's article posted on Thursday, Dec. 6, concerning his opinions of District Attorney Dave Molek's article.
Mr. Geedey: You seem to be misinformed about the tea party. In Mifflin County we have a Tea Party Patriots group and a 9-12 group. Mr. Molek belongs to the 9-12 group. Our Mifflin County Tea Party Patriots group belongs to the national Tea Party Patriots organization which does not endorse candidates and, therefore, is not an arm of the Republican Party. I hope this clears up the confusion which you have regarding these organizations.
Your assertion that the tea party works on outdated issues is ludicrous. I and other national tea party leaders meet regularly with both Democrats and Republicans in Washington, D.C., on current issues of concern to working men and women. These issues include, but are not limited to, out-of-control government spending which threatens to bankrupt our great nation.
It is surprising to me that, given your current education in economics, you fail to appreciate the seriousness of the exploding national debt over the past four years. Some of the smartest people I know locally, most of whom do not have college degrees, clearly understand the dire economic condition of our country.
David Molek's ideas are certainly not paranoid. His concerns are legitimate and should not be superciliously dismissed.
