YEAGERTOWN - The Derry Township Board of Supervisors announced the Municipal Authority of the Borough of Lewistown has been approached about providing water service to a mobile home park, Hillside Terrace, along U.S. 522 at its regular bi-weekly meeting Monday.

There is approximately 4,000 feet of water line between Crossover Drive and Hillside Terrace on U.S. 522. The line will continue after Hillside Terrace and end at Guss Road.

MABL will survey the residents along U.S. 522 to see if there is any interest in connecting to MABL's water system. There are "eight to 10" homeowners between Crossover Drive and the entrance of Hillside Terrace, the board said.

Crossover Drive is currently the end of MABL's system along that traffic corridor. There are approximately 45-50 homeowners and businesses from the trailer part to the Township line, which is near Guss Road, the board said.

The supervisors were in agreement that Derry Township Community Park will get a name change as soon as paperwork is "figured out." Currently, the supervisors are determining if they need an ordinance or a resolution to change the park's name. During discussion it was figured out that the name was originally changed to apply for grants during the 1970s.

In other news, the board:

Approved a motion to accept a request for per capita tax exonerations from Miffco in amount of $115.50.

Approved a motion to allow the roadmaster upgrades for Maitland WWII Monument in Spring 2013.

Approved a motion to accept a three year renewal with DeAngelo Bros. vegetation control contract.

Approved a motion to allow Jodi Barger CDBG grants administrator to access CDBG bank account.

The Derry Township Board of Supervisors normally meets at 5:30 p.m. on the first and third Monday of each month at its office, in Yeagertown.
