To the editor:
The 84th Beaver Community Fair was viewed a success by the directors and fair goers. Directors had been skeptical of the outcome of erecting the fence to begin collecting an admission fee. The group from the music boosters and directors found a few minor glitches that were easily corrected and new ideas for future years. The directors believe they can build on these ideas.
Penn Valley Amusements provided the rides. The midway was a great hit with the kids as well as most of the adults. The entertainment kept the audiences tapping their toes and clapping their hands.
Mrs. Margie Krebs was presented with the Ambassador Award. Each fair may nominate an individual who over the years has demonstrated guidance and knowledge of the makings of a great fair.
Jeanette Blank was crowned Fair Queen. Ms. Blank will represent the Fair in Hershey in January.
Alexis Kline was selected as Junior Fair Queen. During their reign, some of the responsibilities will be to speak at schools, radio stations and to organizations concerning farms, farm products and the Beaver Fair.
If any young lady would like to be in next year's queen contest, check out the fair website for more information.
Due to the weather this spring and summer, crops were not as plentiful that resulted in decrease numbers in these categories. Judges indicated this fair was not the only one to feel the after effects of the weather. ATV, truck and tractor pulls had a large number of entries in their competitions. ATV raffle winners were Mark Madara, Gerald Markley and Jodi Bremigen.
Elections have been completed with Levi Aurand and Doug Boop re-elected to president and first vice president, respectfully. Steve Shea was elected second vice president. The secretary will be Ashley Hassinger. Returning directors will be Glen Gardner, Greg Brouse as well as new directors being Darren Krebs and Donald Athey.
If anyone from the community would like to be nominated for future position as director, please submit a letter of interest. Also anyone interested in assisting the superintendent of the buildings or departments please submit a letter of interest.
The directors would like to thank everyone who made this year's fair a success. Donations of time and or money would be greatly accepted and appreciated. If you want to get updates on activities and meetings of the Beaver Fair, go to our website at beaverfair.org.
