THOMPSONTOWN - David W. Barnes, 70, of Thompsontown, died at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012.
Born July 2, 1942, in Delaware Township, he was a son of the late Newell and Elizabeth (Hoffman) Barnes.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy G. (Naylor) Barnes, on Nov. 3, 2006, and is survived by his second wife, Leslie Landis Barnes, whom he married Oct. 12, 2011.

He also is survived by: one daughter, Wendy Barnes and husband, Keith Mullen, of Newport; one son, Robert Barnes, of Charlotte, N.C.; three grandsons, Bryce Mullen, Nathan Mullen and David Barnes; one great-grandson, Zayden Barnes; three stepchildren, Terry Landis Jr., Tammy Landis and Crystal Fry; and three brothers, Joe Barnes and wife, Janice, Jim Barnes and wife, Mona, and Johnnie Barnes and wife, Melva, all of Thompsontown.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul Barnes, Jack Barnes, Harry Barnes and Thomas Barnes.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War.
Dave was a self-employed contractor.
He served as commander of Thompsontown AmVets twice and was instrumental in starting the trout derby for the kids. He was a member of American Legion Post 298, the Millerstown Moose, and Tennis Lodge 371 F&AM.
He and his first wife operated Greenwood Raceway. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, arrowhead hunting, gardening, maintaining his pond and especially spending time with his grandsons.
His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, North Mill Street, Thompsontown, with the Rev. Mike Sigler officiating. There will be no viewing.
