HONEY GROVE - Richard D. "Bill" Naugle, 82, of Honey Grove (Reeds Gap), died at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at his home.
Born on Jan. 7, 1930, in Lack Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Harvey and Lillie (Brant) Naugle. His wife, Helen L. (Williamson) Naugle, survives.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Gary L. Naugle and his wife, Karen, of Port Royal, and David H. Naugle, of Lewisberry, and he leaves behind five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
One brother, Harry Naugle, and three sisters, Elizabeth Behel, Mable Naugle and Esther Flood, preceded him in death, making him the last of his generation.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, Mr. Naugle proudly served his country during the Korean War.
His memberships included: the Faith United Methodist Church, East Waterford, the American Legion Post 298, Mifflintown, and the VFW Post 6704, Mechanicsburg.
Earlier in life, he worked at several local sawmills, after which he was employed by PennDOT, before retiring from Juniata Concrete Co., Mifflintown.
Bill loved nature and the outdoors, especially hunting, and had a gift for working with his hands to create things with lumber.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at the Faith United Methodist Church, East Waterford, with the Rev. Marsha Bookhamer officiating. Interment will follow in the Concord Union Cemetery, Concord, where full military burial honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council.
Viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at the Brown Funeral Homes, Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
