LEWISTOWN - Earl J. Kauffman, 68, of Lewistown, died at 5 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at his home.
Born Oct. 23, 1944, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Robert and Agnes (Powell) Kauffman.
Earl is survived by his wife, Patricia L. (York) Kauffman, whom he married on March 8, 1981.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: his children, Christine Vaughn and her husband, Gene, of Shirleysburg, Debra Bryner and her husband, Brian, and Gary Schell and his companion, Nicki Hetrick, both of Lewistown; siblings, James Kauffman and his wife, Ruth, of Burnham, William Kauffman and his wife, JoAnn, of Nebraska, Barbara Fisher, of Lewistown, Alice Henry and her husband, Burton, of Reedsville, Robert Kauffman and his wife, Emma, of Milroy, and Connie Baumgardner and her husband, Bucky, of Florida; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Earl was preceded in death by: one brother, David Kauffman; three sisters, Pearl Henry, Doris Hage and Shirley Goss; son, John Schell Jr.; and granddaughter, Zoe Schell-Truitt.
He served in the U.S. Army for five years and was a member of Centre Union Church.
Earl enjoyed his family and friends, as well as being a part of the VFW Honor Guard, helping to cook chicken on Saturday mornings.
A memorial service with VFW Post 7011 honors will be held at noon Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at Centre Union Church, 470 Caldwell Hill, Lewistown, with the Rev. Kurtis Swisher officiating.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until time of the service Mondayat the church.
