NEWTON FALLS - Jack R. Williard Sr., of Hilton Head, S.C., passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012.
Born July 25, 1930, in Newton Falls, N.Y., he later married the love of his life, Alice Lorraine Romberger in 1953.
Mr. Williard is survived by: his loving and devoted wife, Alice; sons, Jack R. Williard Jr. and his wife, Wanda, Jeffrey Williard and his wife, Karen; daughters, Ann Matter and her husband, Michael; five grandchildren, Sean, Zack, Luke, Brandon and Kylie; and four great-grandchildren, Brock, Alec, Dylan and Lily.
After graduating from Penn State University, Mr. Williard served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany. He later worked for Agway Petroleum until he retired in Millersburg, and then truly retired in Hilton Head, S.C., where he became a member of The Christ Lutheran Church.
Jack was known for his great sense of humor. He enjoyed his family, was a proud, true, blue and white Penn State fan, an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting, and playing golf. He was a member of the Masons, the Tall Cedars, the Lions Club and the Rotary Club.
A celebration of Jack's life will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 8, at The Christ Lutheran Church, 829 Wm. Hilton Parkway, Hilton Head. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service at the church.
