MILLERSTOWN - It was Greenwood's homecoming, but East Juniata made itself at home Saturday as the Tigers tossed Greenwood, 3-1, in Tri-Valley League boys soccer.
It was not only the second win over the Wildcats by East Juniata this year, but was the seventh straight win against the Perry County team. Greenwood coach Tom Magill said the damage was done before the queen was crowned.
"They really dominated the first half," he said. "Our nine shots were all concentrated for the most part in a stretch from 30 minutes left in the game on to the end. We might have had one up to that point."
Magill was among many in awe when the Tigers scored the first one early in the opening half. East Juniata's Ben Auker got a breakaway from the outside, but overran the ball on the way to the goal. It got flipped up behind him, and he used his heel to send it over the head of Greenwood keeper Ryan Kerstetter for a 1-0 lead.
Josh Ferguson got the Wildcats within one in the second half, but Devin Goodling and Landon Sheaffer, who scored the second goal, teamed up again when Sheaffer won a head ball and played it across to Goodling, who put it away for the final.
Greenwood won the JV game, 3-0.
The Wilcats (8-2, 6-2) host Line Mountain Wednesday.

MILLERSBURG - At the beginning of the season, Amber Knouse was a junior varsity player at East Juniata.
Saturday, she was bucking for a promotion. Knouse, called up to the varsity after getting through an injury herself, scored the first three goals against Millersburg for a natural hat trick, then salted the wound with the final tally in an 8-0 Tri-Valley League girls soccer win by the Tigers.
"We just kind of pulled her up from the JV and she's so fast. It was a good confidence booster for her," East Juniata coach Lori Goodling said.
MiKayla Goodling added a pair of goals and two assists for East Juniata. Kayla Hoke scored twice and added a helper.
The Tigers took it to the net early, scoring three goals in the first 10 minutes of the game.
East Juniata also won the JV game, 2-0.
The Tigers (7-2, 6-0) see Millersburg again Tuesday at home.

LEWISBERRY - Ben Kunkel's first-half goal stood as the game winner against Mifflin County on Saturday in a Commonwealth Division boys soccer game. Derek Heimbach made eight stops in goal for the Huskies.
Mifflin County (1-11) hosts Cedar Cliff Tuesday.
Juniata 3, Halifax 2
HALIFAX - Jose Lopez had two goals and an assist for Juniata as the Indians worked past Halifax, 3-2, in Tri-Valley League boys soccer Saturday.
Juniata was up 2-0 halfway through the first when Halifax scored twice to tie it up. But Lopez dented the net again early in the second to win it for the Indians.
