He married Donna D. Little, in 1950, who preceded him in death in 2007. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Orval "Bob," in 2009, and brother-in-law, Donald Fisher, in 2011.

He attended Kutztown State College, joined his brother Bob in business, and later joined the Maryland Casualty Insurance Company as an auditor, relocating to Detroit, Mich., Staunton, Va., and finally Mechanicsburg.

Russ retired in 1990 after 38 years of service, and celebrated by purchasing a new set of golf clubs which he still used only three months ago for his final round with his longtime golf and poker buddies.

Russ was blessed in his ability to remain in his home surrounded by family, neighbors and friends until only 11 days before his passing. At his request, there will be no service.
