Midd-West girls top Bellefonte

MIDDLEBURG - Midd-West's Morgan Goodling scored with 1:31 left in the first overtime period to lift the Mustangs over Bellefonte, 2-1, in non-league girls soccer action Saturday.

The Mustangs tied it up when Allie Camp scored with less than five minutes to play in the second half. Midd-West outshot Bellefonte 21-3 but had trouble putting the ball in the net.

"That was the biggest problem," Midd-West coach Russ Goodling said. "We has several one on one chances and their keeper made some great saves."

The game-winning goal came when Makayla Byler set a ball on goal. The Bellefonte keeper hit the ball up and after a little scuffle in front of the goal, Goodling found nylon for the win.

Midd-West (4-2, 2-1 HAC Division 1) hosts Montoursville Tuesday.

Girls soccer

East Juniata 5,

Upper Dauphin 0

COCOLAMUS - East Juniata's Kayla Hoke notched a hat trick as the Tigers defeated Upper Dauphin 5-0 in Tri-Valley League girls soccer action Saturday.

Hoke had one goal in the first half before carding the final two scores of the game in the second half.

East Juniata dominated in this one from the start. The Tigers outshot Upper Dauphin 47-0 and lead 13-0 in corner kick opportunities.

East Juniata travels to Danville today.

Boys soccer

Belleville Mennonite 7, York Christian 1

BELLEVILLE - Belleville Mennonite's Andrew Miller broke the school's career scoring record Saturday with five goals to help lead the Trojans to a 7-1 win over York Christian.

Miller now has 58 career goals, surpassing Stewart Suydam's previous mark of 54 set back in 2001.

"I talked to him individually before the game," Belleville Mennonite coach Brian Renno said. "I challenged him. He really came through and responded well."

Miller found the net three times in the first and twice in the second. Also adding goals in a winning effort were Jung Kim and Noah Anders.

"We moved the ball and initiated it through the midfield," Renno said. "Noah Anders is a freshman and he's really developing his confidence. It was nice to see him score."

Belleville Mennonite (4-2) hosts Grace Prep Tuesday.

Field hockey

Newport 5,

Belleville Mennonite 0

BELLEVILLE - Newport's Alicia Smith scored a hat trick for the Buffaloes in a 5-0 win over Belleville Mennonite Saturday in Belleville.

Newport scored a trio of goals in the first half to jump out to a quick lead over the Trojans.

Then, in the second half, Smith scored a pair of unassisted goals inside the last 10 minutes of play to seal the win over Belleville Mennonite.

Newport outshot Belleville Mennonite 28-3. Trojan Mollie Morgan had 25 saves in a losing effort.

Belleville Mennonite (2-2) hosts Forbes Road Tuesday.
