VIP tickets on sale Sept. 18; reserve seats Sept. 19

LEWISTOWN - Tickets will go on sale this week for the Taste of Home Cooking School that's coming to Lewistown on Oct. 13.

Tickets for the event at Mifflin County High School will be on sale at The Sentinel office at 352 Sixth St. in Pleasant Acres, Lewistown.

Sales for a limited number of VIP seats will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday and continue until they are sold out. All VIP ticketholders will receive 15-minute early admission, front/center seating, a meet and greet with Chef Cheryl Cohen that will include light refreshments, a backstage tour and the option to receive a cookbook signed by the chef. The cost is $35, or $50 with the choice of one of two cookbooks signed by the chef. The cookbook choices are "Best Loved Cookies," " Busy Family Favorites" and "Almost Homemade 2011."

VIP tickets may be purchased in person or by phone at 248-6741, with payment by cash or credit card only. There is a $1 processing fee for credit card orders; for phone orders, there is a $2 processing fee.

While there are a limited number of VIP seats, there are plenty of good seats close to the stage in the school auditorium for all other reserved seat tickets. Ticket sales for reserved seats begins from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, in person or by phone at 248-6741, with payment by cash or credit card only. The price is $12. There is a $1 processing fee for credit card orders; for phone orders, there is a $2 processing fee.

The show will begin at 3 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Doors will open at noon to allow time for visiting vendors.

Everyone attending the event will receive a gift bag, sponsored by Lewistown Hospital and Hoover's Bernina Sewing, filled with coupons, special offers, samples, two Taste of Home magazines, including one that showcases the recipes being prepared on stage, and a free subscription to either Taste of Home or The Family Handyman magazines.

In addition, all ticketholders are eligible to win the grand prize of a $750 gift certificate from Capperella's, and more than 40 door prizes, including a new range courtesy of Michael's Sales and Service, and the prepared recipes.

The cooking school is being brought to Lewistown by The Sentinel. The two-hour event features live cooking demonstrations by the Taste of Home culinary specialist.

During the show, Cohen will prepare Domino/C&H Light Chocolate Chunk Coffee Cake, Steak and Blue Cheese Bruschetta with Onion and Roasted Tomato Jam, Mini Maple Cinnamon Rolls, Braised Beef Short Ribs, Saladmaster Veggie Lasagna, Johnsonville Italian Sausage Stuffed Mushrooms, Eggland's Best Spinach, Brie and Bacon Mini Quiche, National Pork Board Pulled Pork Tostadas with Slaw and Chipotle Cream, Gallo Family Vineyards Pineapple-Cashew Chicken Salad and Shop Taste of Home Upside Down Apple Pie.
