LEWISTOWN - Thelma P. McCracken, 96, of Lewistown died at 9:52 p.m. Thursday, Sept 6, 2012, at Brookline Manor, Mifflintown.
Born on April 17. 1916, in Kalamazoo, Mich., she was the daughter of the late Martin A. and Nettie (Jenkins) Lash.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William McCracken, on Jan. 29, 1972, and a sister, Charlotte Keister, in 2008.
She is survived by: two sons and their wives, Richard and Barbara McCracken, of Waynesboro and William and Joann McCracken, of Springfield, Va.; four grandchildren, Scott, Jeff, Jenna, and Synda McCracken; and two greatgrandchildren, Patrick and Megan McCracken.
Thelma owned and operated her own business at Thelma's Beauty Shop, on Shaw Avenue, Lewistown, for 31 years. She was a 41 year cancer survivor who was cured just four months prior to her husband's death from the same disease.
She was a lifelong member of the Lewistown Presbyterian Church.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at Heller- Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Inc. Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
A viewing will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.
Interment will take place in Mt. Rock Cemetery.
