LEWISTOWN - Sheldon E. VanScyoc, 81, of Lewistown, went to be with his Lord at 10:49 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at his residence.
Born Oct. 3, 1930, in Granville Township, he was a son of the late Samuel A. and Mary E. (Fisher) VanScyoc.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis J. (Wilson) VanScyoc, whom he married on July 28, 1951.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by: children, Linda L. Kearns, of Burnham, Shelly Cramer and husband, Timothy, of Thompsontown, and Pamela Parson and husband, Alfred, of Lewistown; brother, Donald R. VanScyoc, of Lewistown; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Sheldon was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jodi Swayne, in 1973, and a grandson, Trenton Earl Cramer.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean conflict.
Early in life, he worked at the American Viscose Corp. and later as a production employee at Fisher Electronics, in Milroy, for 14 years.
Sheldon was a member of Bethel AME Church.
He enjoyed fishing and wood-working and also loved spending time with family and friends.
A graveside service, with honors by VFW Post 7011, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at Lind Memorial Cemetery, in Lewistown, with the Rev. Bernard Carpenter officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel AME Church, 23 Juniata St, Lewistown, PA 17044.
