UNIVERSITY PARK (AP) - Penn State coach Bill O'Brien has named Derek Day the starter at tailback for Saturday's game at Virginia.
O'Brien said on his weekly radio show Thursday that he was unsure if first-string running back Bill Belton would be available Saturday. Belton remains day-to-day with a left ankle injury.
Belton posted on Twitter account earlier Thursday that he was "Back on my feet!"
Belton converted from wideout to tailback in the offseason. He ran for 53 yards on 13 carries in a 24-14 loss to Ohio in the season opener before exiting due to injury.
A former walk-on, Day ran for 36 yards on eight carries against Ohio. O'Brien added that junior Curtis Dukes had a productive week of practice and could see his first carries of the season this weekend.
