Port Royal calls off Labor Day race

September 4, 2012
From staff reports , Lewistown Sentinel

PORT ROYAL - Port Royal Speedway lost the 2012 Labor Day Classic for 410 sprints and ARDC Midgets Monday afternoon after waiting out persistent rain showers and drizzle for nearly five hours while attempting to prepare the surface.

The race was called at 2:45 pm.

Rainchecks can be used this weekend. The 45th annual Tuscarora 50 for sprint cars is scheduled for Saturday at 7 p.m. The event is sanctioned by the All Star Circuit of Champions Sprints.

That show will be preceded by the All Stars Night Before The 50 on Friday, also at 7.

Late models will be on the Friday card, which will decide the 2012 late model track title. Saturday's 50 itself will settle the fight to be 2012 sprint car champion.

The weekend races will cap off the 158th annual Juniata County Fair at the track.
