MIFFLINTOWN - Brookline Manor in Mifflintown honored several of its residents who are centenarians, or people 100 years old or older, with a Century Club birthday party on Thursday.
Each centarian was presented a cake, representing his or her age.
Lawrence "Jess" Grimm, 105 years old, was born in Urban and worked for the National Transit Pump for 30 years and traveled all over the eastern United States during his career. Jess has four children. He thought the most important invention in his life time was the automobile since he was born during the horse and buggy days.

Brookline Manor honored several of its residents who are centenarians with a Century Club birthday party Thursday. Grimm will be 106 years old on Oct. 19. Cornelius turns 105 today. Imes turned 101 on Aug. 16. Beale had her birthday on Jan. 20.
Mary Cornelius, who celebrates her 105th birthday today, was born in Meadville and lived on the family farm for many years until she moved to Juniata County to be close to her family. Mary was employed at Talon Company until her retirement in 1998. Mary has a daughter, Doris, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She lived independently until the age of 100 and then moved to Brookline Manor.
Claire Imes, 101 years old, was born in Evendale and was a farmer's wife. Her duties on the farm included everything but driving the farm tractor which she tried one time. Her family said she was a hard worker on the farm and a great housekeeper. She has one daughter Faye Campbell and a son Merle Imes who passed away, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Presbyterian church in Academia which she attended most of her life and she volunteered with church meals.
Floe Beale, 100 years old, was born in Walker Township. She married Ralph Beale in 1934 until his passing in 1971. She worked in a factory in Thompsontown.
