EAST WATERFORD - William C. "Bill" Evelyn, 73, of East Waterford, died at 12:53 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at his home.
Born on Dec. 24, 1938, in King of Prussia, Montgomery County, he was a son of the late Luther S. and Elsie (Lloyd) Evelyn. On Feb. 12, 1981, he married his surviving wife, Donna K. (Stong) Evelyn, with whom he shared more than 31 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife he is survived by: one daughter, Irene Evelyn and her husband, Teddy Hamilton, of Miami, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Kim Becker and her husband, Bob, of Mexico; one sister, Phyllis Kuhna, of King of Prussia; and two stepgrandchildren, Mariah K. Becker and R.J. Becker.
One sister, Margaret Eckman, preceded him in death.
Bill was a 1957 graduate of Upper Marion Township High School, King of Prussia.
Mr. Evelyn was a truck driver all of his life until retiring in 1994. After 40 years, he owned and operated Evelyn Trucking, of King of Prussia.
At one time Bill, an avid NASCAR fan, traveled the country to attend races. He also loved to sit around the garage drinking strong coffee with his buddies, when he wasn't riding his tractor, mowing, trimming and maintaining his farm.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at the East Waterford Cemetery, East Waterford, with the Rev. Marsha Bookhamer officiating.
Viewing will be from 11 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at the Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown.
