ALLENSVILLE - Dorothy B. King, 81, of 579 Front Mountain Road, Allensville, died at 8:55 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at her home.

Born June 23, 1931, in Reedsville, she was a daughter of the late Crist Y. and Mattie A. (Yoder) Peachey. She is survived by her husband, A. Herbert King, of Allensville, whom she married on Oct. 4, 1952.

She also is survived by: children, Barbara I. Peachey and husband, Samuel, of Belleville, Eveyln E. King, of Allensville, A. Fred King and wife, Elsie M., of Allensville, Agnes A. Groff and husband, Roy, of McVeytown, Nancy D. Watkins, and husband, Dale, of Chambersburg, Janet M. Carr and husband, Gerald, of Barwick, Ontario, Canada, Charles H. King and wife, Cynthia D., of Mill Creek, Foster R. King and wife, Regina M., of Mill Creek, Beth E. Yoder and husband, David R., of Allensville, and Sally J. Peachey and husband, Raymond B., of Belleville; brother, Crist D. Peachey, of Belleville; 55 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: two grandchildren, Allen Groff and Maria Carr; sister, Carrie I. King; and brother, Mervin J. Peachey.

Dorothy was primarily a homemaker. She had worked as a secretary for R. M. Sausman Oil Company, in Lewistown, Mennonite Central Committee, in Akron, and at South Mountain TB Sanitorium. She also drove cattle truck for a number of years, a business she and her husband had together.

Dorothy enjoyed quilting and had made a quilt for each of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband, bird watching, and baking breads, rolls, and whoopie pies to sell.

She was a member of the Beth-El Mennonite Church, in Allensville.

A funeral service will be held in her memory at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at Allensville Mennonite Church, with officating ministers, Foster King, Raymond Peachey and Roy Groff.

Burial will take place immediately after, at Allensville Mennonite Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, and from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, at Allensville Mennonite.

Arrangements are under the care of Henderson Funeral Home Inc., 3813 W. Main St., Belleville.
