ORRVILLE, Ohio - L. Elsie Sharp Yoder Gerber, 89, of Orrvilla Drive, Orrville, Ohio, went to be with the Lord, on Monday evening, Aug. 27, 2012, at Aultman Orrville Hospital, Orrville, Ohio, following a sudden illness.
Elsie was born Jan. 3, 1923, in Belleville, she was the daughter of Christian and Lydia (Yoder) Sharp, and attended school in Pennsylvania. She was united in marriage to Jesse K. Yoder, on July 7, 1940, who passed away on June 18, 1970. She later married Elmer Gerber, on Oct. 14, 1978, who passed away on Jan. 12, 1997.
She was a member of Pleasant View Mennonite Church, near North Lawrence, and was a member of the sewing circle. She was a homemaker, and had worked part time as a store clerk at several businesses. Elsie enjoyed spending time with her family, quilting, reading and puzzles.
Surviving are: her children, Ruth Ann and husband, Alvin, Hostetler, of Belleville, and Trennis J. and wife, Janet, Yoder, of Midland, Mich.; four stepchildren, Marilyn and husband, Herman, Nussbaum, of Apple Creek, Ohio, Lillianand husband, Glenford, Gerber, of Kidron, Ohio, Marjorie and husband, Gordon, Nussbaum, of Dalton, Ohio, and Doris and husband Richard, Fath, of Orrville, Ohio; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild; 15 stepgrandchildren; 38 stepgreat-grandchildren: 23 stepgreat- great-grandchildren; a brother, Jonathan and wife, Florence, Sharp, of Allensville; two sisters, Nancyand husband, Peter, Kinsinger, of Belleville, and Fannie Frey, of Honey Brook; and a sister-in-law, Rebecca Sharp, of Richfield.
Elsie was preceded in death by: her parents; her two husbands; a son, Walter Thomas Yoder; a sister, Mattie Speicher; a brother, Jacob Sharp; a great-grandchild; and a stepgreat-grandchild.
Services will be held at Pleasant View Mennonite Church, 14795 Wooster St., N.W., North Lawrence, at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, with the Rev. John Miller officiating. Burial will take place at the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, prior to the service.
